Pre Workshop on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)

The pre-conference workshop for International Conference on Business, Economics & Management 2019 was organized from February 21 to February 22, 2018. The workshop was on "PLS Structural Equation Modeling".

ICBEM Two days Conference

ICBEM 02 day's conference held on 23-34 February in which all the national and international delegates participated in the conference including sessions lead, key note speakers, research scholars, discussants and learners. In two days of conference researchers presented their papers and case studies in front of panel and key note speakers from different countries gave their views on specific problems that we are currently facing. The key note speakers including, Dr. Rosella Castellano Professor and Researcher at University of Macerata, Italy, Dr. Ramayah Tharasamy Professor at School of Management University Sains, Malaysia, Dr. Mohammad Memon Chairman BISE Hyderabad and Dr. Dawood Ashraf Senior Researcher at Islamic Research and Training Institute Bangor University, Saudi Arabia shed light on the economic reforms and changing economic trends and promote savings to safeguard future. Panelists including, Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gillani Head of Gallup Pakistan, Dr. Mohammad Zaki Rashdi Director and Associate Dean at Iqra University, Dr. Tariq Kaleem Executive Director at Institute of Charter Accountants Pakistan and Ms. Almas Abbas and others held brain-storming sessions on economic and educational reforms. On the concluding day prizes and souvenirs were distributed among the winners of best student paper & best case study by the Registrar Sukkur IBA University Engr. Zahid Hussain Khand.

Post workshop: Data management, Time series and panel data analysis using STATA

The post-conference workshop for International Conference on Business, Economics and Management 2019 took place from February 25 to February 26 2018. The workshop focused on the practical uses of the "Data Management, Time series and Panel Data Analysis using STATA" The facilitator, Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Bhayo and Dr. Sheeraz Rajput, faculty members of Sukkur IBA University and both has conducted various training workshops on STATA. The post-conference workshop taught participants about data management, time-series data analysis, and panel data analysis through STATA.

Neuro Warfare 2018


Organized by Case Research Center (CRC), Neuro Warfare, one of the signature events of Sukkur IBA University, took place on 20-21 November 2018. This year, contestants from 15 different Universities from all across Pakistan participated in Neuro Warfare. These Universities included Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar, PIDE Islamabad, Institute of Business Management Karachi, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Air University Islamabad, PAK-KIET, SZABIST Hyderabad, SZABIST Larkana, COMSATS University Islamabad (Vehari Campus), DOW University of Health Sciences, BZU Multan, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, University of Sindh, Federal Urdu University, KSBL, and Sukkur IBA University. Speaking on the opening ceremony, Vice Chancellor Sukkur IBA University, Prof. Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui, emphasized that, with critical thinking, people can find multiple solutions to their business problems and was hopeful that the two days of Neuro Warfare will benefit the participating students greatly. Registrar Sukkur IBA University, Engr. Zahid Hussain Khand, according warm welcome to the participants, shed light on the various initiatives of Sukkur IBA University. He also highlighted the benefits of Sukkur IBA's production of 950 KW clean energy through its Solar System, through which Sukkur IBA University has prevented the release of tons of CO2 in the environment, thus fulfilling the mission of serving community.
After two days of intense competition, Neuro Warfare 2018 came to a conclusion. In the category of Virtual Battle Field", the first and second positions were taken by Sukkur IBA University while third position was secured by Islamia University Bahawalpur. In "Clash of Minds", PIDE Islamabad and Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar got first and second positions, respectively, while Sukkur IBA University secured third position. For "Hemisphere Combat", first position was taken by Institute of Business Management Karachi, Air University Islamabad secured second position and third position was taken by Sukkur IBA University. Vice Chancellor Sukkur IBA University, Prof. Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui, in his closing remarks, emphasized the importance of participating in such competitions as they provide a platform to not only learn but also to meet new people. He added that he hopes the event was enjoyable and that participants will come back to Sukkur IBA University again.

Pre Workshop on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)

The pre-conference workshop for International Conference on Business, Economics & Management 2019 was organized from April 17 to April 18, 2019. The workshop was divided into two modules. The first module was on "PLS - SEM Using Smart PLS 3". While the second module was on "How to Publish in Top-Tier Journals". The facilitators included Dr. Usman Raja, Brock University, Canada, Dr. Saima Naseer, IIUI, Islamabad, Dr. Abbas, FAST, Islamabad, and Dr. Waheed Umrani, Sukkur IBA University.

Two days ICBEM Conference

Sukkur IBA University organized the 3rd International Conference on Business, Economics & Management on April 19 - 20, 2019. The theme of the two-day conference was "Strategies for Sustainability and Well-Being at Workplace: Asian Perspective A total of 160 research papers were submitted, out of which 90 papers and 33 cases were presented throughout the conference by national and international participants. The first day included various keynote speakers, a panel discussion, and various parallel sessions. Dr. Severine Minot, Habib University, gave her keynote speech on the title "Gender Balance in the Workplace: Harnessing Emotional Intelligence across Gender Boundaries". She highlighted the importance of eliminating gender biases and creating a gender balance in the workplace for better results. Dr. Syed Zahoor Hassan, Professor, LUMS, talked on the "Importance of Case Method in Business Education", in the light of sustainability. While Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Majid, University Utara Malaysia, also shared his views on the theme of the conference. The chief guest, Dr. Kaiser Bengali, highlighted the importance of creating a workplace safety culture. The panel discussion centered on the idea that "our own happiness is short-lived if we achieve well-being of our generation at environmental expense of future generation". The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Sarwar Azhar. The panelists included Mr. Hassan Daudpota, Entrepreneur; Mr. Mudassar Zaidi, Entrepreneur; and Dr. Irfan Hyder, Rector IoBM. They discussed the environmental implications of businesses running amok without considering what their business practices are doing to mother Earth. The parallel sessions on both days covered a range of topics including impact of taxes, CPEC, transformational leadership, capital inflows, role of online shopping, women empowerment, aggressive behavior in university students, informal financing and much more. The second day of the conference started with a keynote speech by Dr. Usman Raja, Brock University, Canada. Dr. Arif Iqbal Rana, LUMS, was also among the keynote speakers. Dr. Jawad Syed, LUMS, shed light on "Diversity for Sustainability", while, Dr. Asad Zaman, Vice Chancellor PIDE, talked about "Inclusive Growth". The panel discussion on day two was moderated by Dr. Sheeraz Rajput on the topic of "Inclusive Economic Growth". The panelists included Dr. Asad Zaman, Dr. Kaiser Bengali, and Dr. Zafar Hayat. The parallel sessions covered a range of topics including role of monetary policy, macroeconomic variables and stock prices, industrial policy, relation between stress & performance and much more. During the closing ceremony, co-chair conference, Dr. Waheed Umrani, thanked all the participants and organizers for making iCBEM 2019 a success. In his closing remarks, the Registrar Sukkur IBA University, Engr. Zahid Hussain Khand, talked about Sukkur IBA University's efforts at creating an environment of sustainability, which includes running the campus on solar energy, funding faculty and staff's higher education and more.

The post-conference workshop taught participants about data management, time-series data analysis, and panel data analysis through STATA.

I-creations teaching to millennials through the fusion of techonlogy and simulation 2019


The Department of Business Administration and Case Research Center, Sukkur IBA University organized two days case writing and teaching workshop on 8-9, November, 2019. The Trainer Dr. Farrah Arif, PhD from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School; and LUMS Faculty conducted the training. Around 45 faculty members from the Department of Business Administration, Department of Education, and Kandhkot Campus attended this workshop.

Self-development workshop for university teachers


Under the Vice Chancellor's Initiative, A two-day workshop on "Self-Development for University Teachers" related to Stephen R Covey's famous book, "7 habits of highly effective people" was arranged on October 10 & 11, 2020 by HRD Section, Registrar Office, Sukkur IBA University. Dr Waheed Ali Umrani, Associate Professor and Director, Case Research Center, Sukkur IBA University, facilitated the workshop. Around 30 faculty members from 13 different universities across Pakistan attended the workshop. Participants participated in engaging discussions and discourses on many facets of the 7 habits discussed in the book. Participants shared their experiences and knowledge and appreciated the learning which took place. The trainees were briefed about the initiatives taken by the university and about the functioning of different departments operating at Sukkur IBA University. At the end of the session, Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University said in his speech, we believe that professionalism is the need of the hour for our organizations to prove themselves to be highly service-oriented. He also thanked and expressed sincere gratitude to the participants for choosing Sukkur IBA University for their learning & Professional development.

Workshop on case study writing & teaching


A three-day workshop on "Case Study Writing & Teaching" was arranged from 19th to 21st November, 2020 by HRD Section, Registrar Office in collaboration with Case Research Center, Sukkur IBA University. Dr Arif Iqbal Rana from LUMS & Dr Waheed Ali Umrani, Associate Professor & Director of Sukkur IBA Case Research Center, Sukkur IBA University facilitated the workshop. Around 35 faculty members from different universities across Pakistan attended the workshop. The trainers involved participants in various activities, group discussions, presentations, and brainstorming sessions for the teaching case study. It is expected that this training program will go a long way in developing the professional knowledge of the faculty. Participants shared their experiences and knowledge and appreciated the learning which took place. At the end of the session, Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University said in his speech, we believe that professionalism is the need of the hour for our organizations to prove themselves to be highly service-oriented. He also thanked and expressed sincere gratitude to the participants for choosing Sukkur IBA University for their learning & Professional development.

Webinar on Critical thinking- A Case Study Perspective

CRC had arranged a webinar titled Enhancing Critical Thinking: A Case Study Perspective. This session was highly interactive and interesting that aimed at enhancing critical thinking and how it could be fostered among the students, faculty, case protagonists, and the corporate personnel using case studies. The session was conducted by the national and international scholars to shed light on the following objectives

  • Spot the importance of critical thinking
  • Distinguish critical and non-critical thinking.
  • Establish the route for and avoid the barriers to critical thinking
  • Conduct a self-analysis to recognize the development areas for critical thinking
  • Cultivate the case study method as an effective teaching pedagogy and problem-solving approach.
