Director's Message
Access to quality education in rural Sindh is quite scanty and far-fetched. Quality education in Urban Sindh is expensive and faraway. Many parents cannot afford to send their children to Karachi or Lahore. In fact more than 80% of the parents are not able to send their wards to good quality institutions in urban centers.
Only the rich people or senior bureaucrats are in a position to get their children admitted in good institutions In the province of Sindh except Karachi, there is hardly any institution whose graduates are absorbed in the market in large numbers. No doubt graduates are being produced in thousands every year, but only 5 to 10% succeed in getting jobs, rest are added to the army of unemployed. The unemployment rate in interior of Sindh is alarming.
This has given birth to many social and economic problems in Sindh. Increasing rate of crime is direct result of unemployment. If we look at the job market and analyze it, it would transpire that 90% of the job-market is in the private sector and 10% in Government sector (i.e. public sector). Unfortunately all the graduates being produced every year in rural Sindh are meant for the Govt-sector. They are not fit to be absorbed in private sector. They are not equipped with necessary aptitude and skills to be acceptable in the private sector. Majority of such graduates posses low academic standards, therefore private sector is simply unable to provide them jobs.
This situation has aggravated twin problems in the province of Sindh i.e: (i) unemployment (ii) widening of the gap between urban and rural. Realizing the above problem, some well-meaning people in Sukkur thought about this and came up with the idea of establishing IBA Sukkur as " Center of Excellence". IBA Sukkur started its journey as a Business School affiliated to prestigious IBA Karachi in 1995. Two rooms in the Public School Sukkur was the pioneering place for IBA Sukkur. Now by the grace of Almighty Allah IBA Sukkur has very beautiful building, unparalleled in the entire province of Sindh. Academic Block, Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, Faculty Hostel, Cafeteria and Auditorium give a semblance of "Education City" on Airport Road Sukkur. Next phase of development includes construction of Mosque, Sports complex Residential Colony for Staff and many more things.
IBA Sukkur is not limited to Business education but now covers highly sophisticated I.T Program. Four state of the art computer labs with fast Networking and other facilities are available. More then 120 PCs (P-IV) in air- conditioned halls provide attractive environment for learning. IBA Sukkur has a distinction of producing graduates, all of whom get jobs. Not simply jobs, but positions in well-reputed organizations/ multinational with handsome salary package.
This is the market-recognition of the high academic standards of IBA Sukkur. 10 Batches have graduated from IBA Sukkur up till now. 98% of them are employed. The second distinction of IBA Sukkur is its highly qualified faculty who are paid as per market package.
IBA Sukkur is not the result of efforts of single individual; it is result of efforts of so many dedicated people. The IBA Sukkur and the people of Sindh are really indebted to all those noble persons whose sincere and untiring efforts have brought the IBA Sukkur to this position. Finally we are not complacent in any manner. We strongly feel that there is large room for improvement. We are yet at infancy stage. We need to grow, we need to grow fast. Our vision is not only to excel in Business Education and I.T but also in Agri-Business, Human Resource Development, and Capacity building of teachers and Govt. Functionaries and research in Poverty alleviation. In Short we are Inshallah determined to be “World-Class-Center-of-Excellence". |
