Sukkur IBA University, in continuation with its efforts for the promotion of quality education, has collaborated to Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) to launch the first phase of SEF-Assisted School teachers’ capacity building program in Sindh. SEF Assisted Schools (SAS) Programs is an integration of Integrated Education Learning Program (IELP) and Rural Based Community School (RBCS) program and is one of the Foundation’s largest schemes. Around 3,810 teachers will be trained from primary and secondary schools across Sindh. Lately, a 15-day training commenced for teachers of SEF Assisted Schools in the districts of Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana and Dadu. This training will lasts for 15 days and around 600 teachers are being trained in this phase. Four sessions are going-on simultaneously in the mentioned districts. Next cycle will focus on the training of secondary school teachers. This training focuses on enhancing content knowledge and improving pedagogical skills of teachers in English, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies. Trainers are using text books and SLO’s from National Curriculum as a reference point and as resource and their core objective is to familiarize the teachers with the content in the books in such a manner that they are acquainted with the content and the activities mentioned in the books related to specific topics. The tools and techniques used in the training include lectures, models, videos etc. as per the plan developed by the trainers of Sukkur IBA. Modules developed are based on the information related to the contents in English and Sindhi languages along with the worksheets for practice. Teachers use worksheets to practice the concepts learned which are available in their modules. There would be role plays, peer review and practical training sessions in the training.
