He said that curriculum adapted by academic institutions and skills needed by industry has a gap which must be filled to produce skilled human resource. It is not possible to grow and enhance impact of universities without mutual collaboration with industry. In modern era of technology and research, universities play their role as a hub of research and innovation, which later to be commercialized by industry. Specially, the recent development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is an important event in the history of Pakistan which will require massive skilled human resource. We, as an academic institution Pakistan, must play our part by building capacity of human resource, otherwise we will not be able to earn real benefit from this mega project. He also highlighted the initiatives taken by Sukkur IBA to produce qualified and skilled human resource i.e. initiating Chinese Language Course, Skill Based Short Courses and Diploma programs through Community Colleges, naming the few. In last, the chief guest of the event, Mr. Manzoor Ahmed Wassan delivered his keynote speech. During his speech, honorable guests appreciated the efforts made by PASTIC, PSF, SCCI and Sukkur IBA for organizing this event and engaging important stakeholders i.e. industry and academia. He also showed great pleasure for visiting Sukkur IBA for the first time. In his speech, he said that industry and academia must collaborate and we are always available for any support from Sindh Government. He added, Pakistan is naturally gifted country with rich resource and self-reliant agriculture, however we export mostly primary goods and lag far behind in value addition. If we establish local industry, say for example, dates then we can generate huge revenue by establishing value-addition plants. Although Pakistan is 3rd largest date producing country in the world, but we generate far less revenue than other competing countries like Saudi, Yemen etc. He also highlighted various initiatives taken by PPP led government in Sindh to revive industry and establish new free economic zones. He further added, Pakistan is in severe need of qualified and capable scientists, engineers and research scholars with high impact factor research work. Such human resource can help us in innovation and developing ideas that solve everyday problems. He said that present government has top priority to improve quality of life of people of Sindh and undertaken various initiatives that can produce employment, increase literacy and put Pakistan among prosperous countries of the world.
